Hello there y’all! Did you know today marks the start of World Cardmaking Week? I will have information on that for you tomorrow with a blog post and newsletter going out.
Today, I want to share a card with you utilizing a background stamp as an embellishment piece. This is something we all have available to us and yet forget to use. It seems that the market is so oversaturated that sometimes we forget the very basics.
Fall has made its way to the south and I’ve been playing around mixing and matching products. I knew I wanted a patterned embellishment to offset my heart with distinctively autumnal colors, but my choices for Designer Series Paper were limited in Calypso Coral that would flow with my design, so I created my own with what I already had available to me. Always shop your stash, wing it, and make it work.
The leaves are from Colorful Seasons. I die-cut both with the coordinating framelits; top right in Cajun Craze and left in Pumpkin Pie. This is a very woodsy-type of card and I am pleased with how it turned out. I used the Buffalo Check background stamp from the Holiday Catalog with Calypso Coral ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and die-cut a heart out from Support Ribbon Framelits Dies. We have several heart-shaped dies, but this one fit the scale of my design.
As I was arranging my embellishments, it all looked a bit on the stark side, and instead of adding my go-to accents, I knew the Copper Metallic Thread in a nest would punch it up a bit. The end result is a very clean and simple card with beautiful autumn accents and embellishments.
I hope that you enjoyed today’s project and a full product list is below. Thank you for stopping by to visit me today. Have a great day and God bless.
