SUOC 283: Fun Folds and How to Create One

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a fun fold created for Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge 283 and hope that you join us!

There are many types of fun folds and here is a You Tube link to the many that you can choose from with great tutorials.

This will be picture heavy since there are so many angles to show you. As always, your Supplies and Instructions are below. This is easy to create and perfect for a rainy afternoon project.

Everything I used for this fun fold is in my favorite Painted Christmas Suite Collection. There are frames in this suite that can be substituted for the Stitched Rectangles, which I would definitely recommend and use the next time around. The gold twine from Simply Elegant Trim can also be omitted. This one collection will meet all of your Christmas papercrafting needs.

As I describe the assembly to you, I will be working from left to right starting with the main card base on the bottom.

I started out with an A2 Garden Green card base with the measurements stated below. Both the card base and sentiment/image panel have only 2 scores each in them. The top piece is simply cut smaller in even increments and it’s flipped, i.e., on the case base, the long side is on the right whereas for the top piece, the long side is on the right.

You will want to cut your DSP panels for the card base and adhere with your choice of adhesive. I cut all of my pieces from the same pattern of designer series paper.

Another idea would be to use the frames from Seasonal Labels for all 3 of the top panels rather than DSP.

For the top sentiment/image panel, I laid down a piece of DSP on the right then cut a large frame from Real Read CS and Painted Christmas DSP and adhered them to each other. I cut a nesting size frame from Basic White CS and gold heat embossed the sentiment onto it from Christmas to Remember. All of the products I am mentioning are in the Painted Christmas Suite Collection. I adhered the sentiment panel to the DSP panel with adhesive. I then cut the slit from Seasonal Labels Dies into each end of the sentiment panel and tied Cherry Cobbler and Gold Metallic Ribbon towards the left into a bow. The image panel was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the gold twine bow I tied with a Mini Glue Dot and tucked in a few of the Gold Holly Leaves from the suite at the far right of the sentiment at the ribbon.

For the the center Real Red and Basic White CS portion, I used Stitched Rectangles Dies that were size appropriate to fit into this space. As above, if I were to change that, I would use the dies in the product suite, like I did on the last inside panel layered with DSP, Garden Green, Soft Sea Foam DSP and Real Red die-cut mats. The sentiment was stamped on Basic White Regular with Poppy Parade ink and cut from the coordinating die.

I also cut 2 Evening Evergreen sprigs, an Old Olive sprig, and a Soft Suede and Poppy Parade sprig, all of which I adhered to the panel with liquid adhesive or Stampin’ Dimensionals, as shown. Another Gold Leave was tucked in as well.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
