Hello there! I hope you all enjoyed celebrating our great nation over the 4th of July weekend.
Thank you for joining me today for a quick and easy way to create your own patterned paper with cardstock and doodling to add interest.
There are a ton of ways to create your own patterned paper or designer series paper if you do not have on board of what’s in your head and have to make it work.
The doodling came about because I needed more black on the new Black & White Designs Designer Series Paper in the now available Holiday Catalog that was used to adhere to the card base. In my mind, I had 2 options; I could either add paper or stamp black dots onto the DSP or doodle on the paper that I created to pull the polka dot DSP forward.
I have a 13-YO Down’s Syndrome young lady a few houses down from me who drew the doodles around the image panel using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker before our daily after dinner dog walk.
For the image panel, I cut up Coastal Cabana Cardstock to 1/2″ and 3/8″ strips that were adhered to a piece of Basic White Regular CS with liquid adhesive.
The Parakeet Party leaf image is from the new Ringed With Nature Bundle in the Holiday Catalog and there’s this amazingly beautiful coordinating designer series paper in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, that also coordinates with the Storybook Gnomes Suite Collection in the Holiday Catalog.
As always, your shopping Supplies and Instructions, including measurements, are below.
You most likely will not see the new Holiday and Sale-A-Bration products in the Supply List below, as I do pre-post, but you will have names. For this card, I used the Ringed With Nature stamp set for the leaves and Black & White Designs Designer Series Paper that are not listed below.
I started out with an A2 Basic White Thick CS and layered a piece of Black & White Designs Designer Series Paper with Seal.
I cut the image panel down to Instruction size and then cut my Coastal Cabana CS into strips.
To build the image panel, I cut 5 pieces of Coastal Cabana CS to 4-3/4 x 1/2″ and adhered one to the very top and bottom of the panel. The remaining 3 strips were evenly spaced and adhered with liquid adhesive with the center first, then top and bottom 1/3.
I cut 4 more pieces of Coastal Cabana CS to 4-3/4 x 3/8″ that were adhered to the panel with liquid adhesive to fill in the white spaces.
This gave me the color and control over how I wanted my image panel to look, and also a fantastic way of using up your scrap cardstock.
The image/sentiment circle was cut from the largest Stylish Shapes circle die. I lined up my floral image and sentiment from Color & Contour onto the circle using my Stamparatus that was laid down with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I knew I was working with a tight space so I stamped the floral image from Color & Contour again onto our Masking Paper with Basic Gray ink and used the coordinating die to cut.
I placed the mask over the image panel flower and stamped the smallest leaf from the Ringed With Nature stamp set using Parakeet Party ink.
I stamped Polish Pink for the solid image of the flower inside of the line art image from the Color & Contour Bundle. This is not designed to line up perfectly.
For final assembly, I bowed Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon at the right on the image mat and adhered this panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The image/sentiment circle was adhered at the left with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
One large Daffodil Delight Glossy Dot was used for the stamen of the flower with two small Pool Party dots to embellish.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
