Cup of Christmas + Die-Cut Embossing Paste Technique

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a Cup of Christmas project featuring how to create your own embellishments with die-cuts and embossing paste.

I’ve been featuring the Cup of Christmas Bundle all week and wanted to add to the design of the bundle by creating my own Shimmery White Embossing Paste “froth” with a die-cut from the Annual Catalog of a flower from Lovely Flowers Dies. You can do this with almost anything when you shop your stash, know what you have, and what you are looking for with a creative imagination to make it work. Die-cuts are amazing in that you can work with them in so many different ways. I turned a flower die-cut upside down so that it resembles a “froth” on top of a coffee cup. I die-cut the largest flower from Lovely Flower Dies, lined it up at the top of the cup to where it would look good, marked it, and used a palette knife to apply Shimmery White Embossing Paste. I applied the paste to mimic true-to-life “froth,” then set aside to dry. Once it was dry, I used a Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Ink Cube from my Paper Pumpkin subscription to swipe the embossing paste to give it color.

I also brought in the 3 snowflake die-cuts from Seasonal Layers Dies to accent my coffee cups, as well as sponging Pool Party ink onto the background, flicking a Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker for additional dimension, and stamping the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink on woodgrain DSP from Pressed Petals.

The measurements are below. To start, I die-cut the coffee cup twice with Cherry Cobbler CS and the Cherry Cobbler polka dot pattern from Wrapped in Plaid DSP and adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to give it a little weight.

After the stamping, die-cutting, and assembly, this is an overall easy card to make with fantastic dimension and creativity; and I love these colors together.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a great day and God bless.
