Using Textiles in Your Papercrafting + Hey Birthday Chick

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a fun birthday card created with Hey Birthday Chick incorporating basic household textiles of sewing patterns as a mat.

I absolutely love bringing in household staples, and staples, into my papercrafting with patterns, vintage pages from old books, Bingo cards, old tickets; kitchen and office items; the possibilities are endless.

With these darling farmhouse hens, gingham designer series paper from Pansy Petals in Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent, and Fresh Freesia, is the perfect fit to make these cards especially whimsy.

As always, your shopping Supplies and Instructions, including measurements, are below.

These were so easy to create and I would love for you to share with me what you’ve created using the products below..

All of the cards were created in the exact same manner. I just used different DSP, ribbon, and accenting In-Color gems, that go with absolutely everything.

I made all of these cards at the same time as gift set to a GF of mine who wanted birthday cards.

The card base is a top-folding A2 in Crumb Cake with the mats and colors cut to the sizes below with my Paper Trimmer and Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with Stitched Rectangles Dies.

The images were stamped in Smoky Slate ink onto Basic White Thick CS and colored with Stampin’ Blends. After coloring in the images, I re-stamped them again with Memento Tuxedo Black to crisp up the line art. I have many VIDEOS for you highlighting this technique that prevents smearing when coloring with alcohol markers.

In assembling the card front, the sewing pattern was adhered with liquid adhesive in the center where I knew the mat and image panel would hide the glue. All of the image mats, i.e., the colored CS, was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, as was the hen cut image.

A Soft Suede and Balmy Blue Light Stampin’ Blend Marker was used to highlight the hen line art. I also added a bit of Balmy Blue to the wings, all of which was blended out with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker. The gobble was colored in with Light Pumpkin Pie with the head feather in Light Poppy Parade.

For the inside, I cut Basic White Regular CS from the 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle, stamped the inside sentiments with Memento Tuxedo Black, and the bottom confetti with the card front coordinating color, which was adhered with Seal.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
