Inlay + Masking Techniques with Lovely Is The Day + Stitched Be Mine

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for my idea of a Valentine’s Day card using an inlay technique with Lovely Is The Day.

I think I’m just going to create this week with no particular product focus. Lovely Is The Day is from the Annual Catalog. I used an inlay technique with the Stitched Be Mine dies. The instructions and measurements are below.

How I adhered the heart dies is the inlay with the masking by placing purple painter’s tape on the flower of the image while I was inking up the stems in Garden Green. You can also take Paper Snips to cut the stamp if you do not want to mask.

I used 3 Lovely Lipstick (flower), Mint Macaron (flower, gingham DSP, card base), and Garden Green (stems). The clear sequins are from a Paper Pumpkin Kit.

I used the largest scallop heart die from Stitched Be Mine that was cut from a panel of Whisper White CS, which is designed to cut 2 pieces at once; the large heart and the scallop frame around it. As I did the stamping, I used purple painter’s masking tape to secure the die-cut pieces in place. This is a photopolymer stamp set and they can be sticky. I wanted to double stamp the images making securing the die-cuts in place essential; you can also see the top left stem where it didn’t work out so well for me. The Stampin’ Spots that you receive in your Paper Pumpkin Kit are excellent to use with selective image stamping as they’re only 1″ and Stampin’ Write Markers do not color well on photopolymer stamps.

We’re just going to wing it this week. If there’s anything you’d like to see, let me know. Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a great day and God bless.

  1. Card base: A2 top-folding Mint Macaron.
  2. Image panel: Whisper White 3-7/8 x 5-1/2.
  3. Subtle DSP: Mint Macaron Gingham 3-7/8 x 3/4. Adhere to the top of the Whisper White image panel with liquid glue.
  4. Position the largest scallop edge heart from Stitched Be Mine towards the top of the image panel and run through the die-cutting machine.
  5. Adhere the Whisper White image panel to the Mint Macaron card base with liquid adhesive. Adhere the outer scallop edge of the heart inlaying with liquid adhesive.
  6. Secure the large heart inside of the inlay with purple painter’s tape. Place the card in the Stamparatus to position the first impression of the stem. Ink this up with Garden Green while masking off the flower portion with purple painter’s tape. Remove the painter’s tape after inking the image, then make your impression onto the image panel.
  7. Repeat the above to impress the flower image in Lovely Lipstick masking off the stem.
