Keeping the Classics On Board | Online Exclusives | Collage Card

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a collage card created with several of our different lines of products and a lot of retired tools. That is what this post is all about … is keeping the crafty basics on board … from designer series paper to tools and embellishments to kits … that I have always held onto without regret.

I brought in the very long retired tools, like a decade+, of the Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and The Tearing Edge with the recently retired Layering Vellum Designs; all of which are classics, never go out of style, and generally something you can do yourself with a degree of grief, whereas using the tools|classics|basics makes it easy for you.

I love creating with these elements and using them to ‘cheat.’ For instance, I am absolutely too lazy to drag out my sewing machine, deal with threading it, etc., when I can simply use a template and the Take Your Pick tool. I would much rather hand sew the thread through the piercings. With this card, I used white embroidery thread rather than machine thread as I wanted something with more substance versus tripling the machine thread.

Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper, which is a standalone DSP, pretty much goes with everything, and is such a versatile paper package that we’ve been offering lately throughout the year to coordinate with the seasons, was brought in for the basic notebook paper pattern … which works fabulously with Gorgeously Made Dies and the notebook edge. I used The Tearing Edge on the far left notebook pattern from Delightfully Eclectic DSP.

The rest of the designer series paper is from Masterfully Made and the retired Layering Vellum Designs. I used the Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to stitch together the designer series paper. Layering Circles and the Bough Punch were used to cut the Layering Vellum Designs.

Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with Granny Apple Green Ink Refill and Water Painters were used to create the sentiment panel with the sentiment from Irresistible Blooms embossed in white powder.

I colored a piece of Basic White Baker’s Twine with a Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend to wrap around the sentiment panel.

There’s a lot going on with this card, especially with the bold Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper but, tempered with the right amount of texture and techniques, it all works out.

The Granny Apple Green watercolor splatters were not intentional. I was not paying attention and didn’t want to start this project all over again. There’s always a story.

As always, your shopping Supplies and Instructions, including measurements, are below.

I started out with my Basic White Thick CS base and layered on a piece of Basic White Regular CS with Seal Adhesive.

I cut the vertical DSP panels to size and tore the far left side with The Tearing Edge and paper pierced the center and right DSP with Updated Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, then sewed my white embroidery thread through the pierced holes. Upon completion, I adhered the panels to the card with Tear & Tape.

I adhered a piece of white newsprint Layering Vellum Designs to a piece of Basic White Regular CS that I cut from a Layering Circle Die and did the same with a pieced of black newsprint Layering Vellum Designs that was punched out from the Bough Punch, which is a wonderfully basic punch that has been around for several years.

The white print vellum went down with Seal Adhesive.

I cut another piece of Masterfully Made DSP to 3-1/8 x 1-5/8, colored a length of Basic White Baker’s Twine with a Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend Marker and bow tied left around the center, that was adhered as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I die-cut a circle from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and used a Granny Apple Green Ink Refill and a large Water Painter Brush to color this panel that I let dry naturally. Once dry, I used my Embossing Buddy to treat the CS before I stamped the sentiment from Irresistible Blooms onto the circle with Versamark and heat embossed with white powder, then adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The newsprint Bough sprig was tucked up under the sentiment and adhered with a little bit of liquid adhesive.

For final assembly, 3 Ombre Matte Decorative Dots in Calypso Coral were adhered to embellish.

It’s so easy to mix and match our colors and products to make beautiful cards.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
