Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a new challenge over at Make the Cards Challenge 25, #MTCC25, where we have a summer 3-2-1 challenge for you to create a project with flowers, ladybugs, and sunshine. I invite you to join our challenge and check out the amazing Design Team inspiration. We have a new challenge for you every Wednesday.
I forgot to list Sponge Daubers with my Supplies, which is pretty critical to this project, that is linked for you. These are a very valuable tool that I frequently use to sponge on color to define our exclusive DistINKtive images even more for texture and dimension. The Instructions are below.
The main technique for this project was coloring with Stampin’ Write Markers onto cling mount stamps while creating a faux sun in the upper left + 3D embossing with Balmy Blue ink and Blending Brushes.
The Ladybug Trinket from the Dandy Garden Suite Collection from the now retired Spring Catalog was adhered to the right on the Ornate Frames sentiment panel with a Glue Dot. As a general rule, I’m a current publication purist, however; this was the only ladybug that I had on board, which immediately came to mind.
Right after this project was created, all of my BOGO items now have new homes, including the above Dandy Garden Suite Collection products. I hope that you took advantage of this special that I offer when a publication retires.
The above techniques are very easy to create with such beautiful results. The So Saffron sun stamped from a filler image included in Garden Wishes at the top right, might look a little out of place. It’s part of the challenge and adds a much needed pop of color to the card that’s obscure enough not to interfere with the flow of the blues and purples.
Our Blending Brushes are a must-have staple with endless creative possibilities that are so easy to use and the best on the market. I have 9 total, one brush for every color group of pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, and gray/black. You can either rub out the color onto our Grid Paper or rinse the brush out with cold water over the sink, and it’s as good as new.
I started out with an A2 top-folding Basic White Thick CS. I cut the Highland Heather CS mat and ran the Basic White Painted Texture 3D EF image panel through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I lightly blended on Balmy Blue ink over the image panel with a Blending Brush to dull the stark white of the CS + bring out the 3D EF texture. I adhered the image panel to the Highland Heather CS with Seal.
The sun was an afterthought, so I used painter’s tape to mask the mat and card base, stamped the dandelion filler image and the dandelion floating image from Garden Wishes in So Saffron ink at the top right using our Clear Block B.
I stamped the fern image from Positive Thoughts onto Basic White CS by coloring with Stampin’ Write Markers and sponging directly with daubers from our Classic Stampin’ Pads onto the Cling Mount stamp on the lid of the Stamparatus to define the images.
The stems were colored with Old Olive on all 3 images. Two of the images were marker colored in Highland Heather then sponged with Gorgeous Grape ink. The center fern was marker colored in Balmy Blue then sponged with Misty Moonlight ink. All were cut from the coordinating Nature’s Thoughts die.
The sentiment was also colored in as above with Highland Heather and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Write Markers and cut from an Ornate Frames die.
I arranged the images and sentiments onto the image panel to get a good visual of where I should wrap the Basic White Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack 3x around the mat and image panel, which was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the card base with a cheater’s bow tied around the stems.
The images and sentiment were adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Five large Opal Rounds were scattered about the image panel for embellishment.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
