Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a card project with the Floral Essence Suite and Doily Dies.
Have you signed up for my newsletter yet? There’s just a few more days to benefit from my newsletter subscriber 10% off on the Stamparatus, products, and accessories until the end of March.
As this year’s Annual Catalog is winding down, I’m thinking of creative and out-of-box ways to use my products; especially the designer series paper, ribbon, and embellishments. I seem to have an overabundance at the end of a catalog period. Since our last Annual Catalog release, I have made a very conscious effort to use my designer series paper with the thought of, if I run out, I can get more; rather than not using it because it’s too pretty, saving it for just the “perfect” project, and a host of other excuses, which never seem to come to fruition. It’s also a big part of my personal “minimalist” thing of also being forced to be more creative with what I have to achieve the result I want. It’s not as difficult as I perceived it to be. I knew what I had on hand, altered what I could, shopped my stash, and especially used the Annual Catalog as a resource to look for what I needed rather than dig through what I have.
I’ve also found over the past month or so, that if I just sit down and create, I enjoy the process much more without following any rules. What do you think? Would you rather see me concentrate on product suites with a little mix & match that you’ve seen in January and February, or this month’s wing it?
This is such a clean and simple card with a lot of spice. I used panels and scraps of soon-to-be-retired designer series paper. The heat embossed gold sentiment is on the “notebook” DSP from Come to Gather, that just retired. You do know I hold onto these types of “staple” patterns and always give you a substitute to use that you already have in your house, such as notebook paper or an index card.
Using large designer series paper panels like this allow you to use up a sheet that you might find a little challenging to work with, but do not want to waste. Since we have 2 sides to our DSP, take the more lighter or mellow pattern and use that as your panel. I find 2 solid papers after that. How I build up is finding a solid that’s 1-2 shades above DSP colors with a non-offensive contrast. In this case, I used Pumpkin Pie as the larger DSP strip with a smaller piece of combined Old Olive/Mossy Meadow

Whatever strikes your fancy is OK by me, as far as what you feature on the blog. Sometimes I think it’s easier to just create with what inspires me at the moment!
