Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a couple of cards made with Positive Thoughts and Sentimental Rose., from April 2019 Paper Pumpkin.
I’m drafting this post on Wednesday, as I may or may not have a video for you this week. I was down a few days with the flu, or hideous allergies, as it’s hard to tell sometimes, because allergies will nail you like that, and now there’s another significant ice/snowstorm coming in over the next 3 days. I’m behind on everything and desperately need a manicure. After living in upstate New York for 16 years, I’m perplexed as to why, in the Midwest, how unprepared the Kansas City area is when it comes to storm pretreatment and keeping up with road maintenance. I live in the downtown area of a KCMO suburb and they never take care of side streets, ever. It’s frustrating. So … that was my week.
The third card I had planned to feature and film the video on, would have had the sketch flipped with the sentiment panel to the right horizontal side.
I do know I’ve featured the technique of partial die-cutting here and on my You Tube Channel within the past 6 months. Both sentiment panels on the cards were partially die-cut to customize their size to fit the scale of my design, which is also how I chose the flower on the card.
I keep my Paper Pumpkin kits and materials for a year, as the refill kits are current. The stamp sets, however, are not available in refill kits and you must be a monthly subscriber in order to receive the monthly kits. I use the leftover exclusive materials frequently in my papercrafting that always enhances what I’m working on outside of the current publications.
The above card is an A2 top-folding So Saffron base that is stamped with So Saffron ink using the fern image from Positive Thoughts in various directions, leaving it clean where the Balmy Blue fussy cut flower from Sentimental Rose, April 2019 Paper Pumpkin, is adhered. I die-cut 3 Basic Black feathers from Nature’s Thoughts dies to use as leaves. I die-cut the frame from Nature’s Thoughts, stamped the sentiment on with Memento Tuxedo Black, sized it up to card base, flower, and feathers, then selectively die-cut the frame again to keep the embossed detail around the edges.
The same technique was used for this card with the flower being stamped in Petal Pink, sentiment on Basic Gray CS, and the stamen using Smoky Slate CS. The Thick Whisper White CS base has a piece of Balmy Blue and Whisper White striped DSP from Come Sail Away.
Pearl Basic Jewels and my favorite Whisper White Seam Binding was used adding even more dimension to the cards.
Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a great weekend and God bless.
