REMINDER: The January – June (Spring Catalog)  + January – February Sale-A-Bration products are now available to you, as well as the new Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (150673), which I highly encourage you to pick up. I’ve been working with this for a few weeks now and it’s fantastic to keep on my desk vs. hauling the full-size machine over to my work table. The Mini will cut a good 95% of our dies. Being the minimalist that I am, I really hesitated bringing on board a mini of what I already had. The smaller footprint, less hauling/weight and capabilities, made me a convert. The Mini is a sound investment.

I also featured the Perennial Petals Dies (154321) in this card, from the Spring Catalog, all of which is available to you TODAY. Never be afraid to alter your die-cuts with your Paper Snips. For this project, I trimmed off the large leaf on the right of the image to get the scale I was after. I don’t have the Hungry Hippo Bundle, but I do have the dies. I wanted the double-stitched, double-dotted, and smooth frames, in 3 different shapes. There are more wonderful standalone dies in Hippo & Friends Dies, as is with all of our die-cuts. I pay attention to if I can sponge on a cloud, grass, banners, speech bubbles, shape, etc. There are so many variables.

I decided to just play today, that’s really Christmas evening struggling with a food coma; which is going to be my 2021 thing, rather than focusing on a bundle or suite for an entire week + video. That formula was a creativity killer for me, because I felt so forced into a box. In lieu, you can always look in the Search Bar on the right side of my blog for other projects that I’ve created with whatever I’m featuring on any given day. I will also provide links for you in the blog post to keep it simple and easy for you. I felt like I was manufacturing rather than creating and it showed.

As most of you know, I don’t do social media and am more of a people person. With COVID, I’ve had to rethink this and have definitely been fighting using social media. I started to fill  Pinterest Boards and am really going to pay attention to my FB Page, as I would like to do Facebook Live videos. You Tube also has a live option that I am going to explore, too. I’ve got to wing this one, so please let me know your thoughts. I anticipate starting these in mid-January. You do know on the first live video, I’m going to completely botch it up, right? Fair warning. I’m going to aim to keep them no longer than 30 minutes, which means I have to be very well-prepped, and I am good about that. I’m not good on social media, as above, and also hoping to find another software program that will auto-post for me to my Instagram and FB Page. It’s been a year, so … yeah.

I think with so many of us on COVID mandates, many really need the interaction that social media can provide; so, I’m willing to take that chance.

Here is today’s project. I always love to shop my minimal stash and am a huge fan of standalone die-cuts. I also have a lot of dies and DSP without the coordinating products, because I know how I am, my style, and what I’m looking for in staples, i.e., the Hippo & Friends Dies as above, for the outstanding frames. This is the beauty of our products; they all work together.

Here’s our adorable project for today and again, do not be afraid to mix your Whisper White and Very Vanilla; the neutrals. This is one of those cards where you can see the difference my Very Vanilla double-dot frame makes with color and texture.

I started out with a top-folding A2 Calypso Coral card base, stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black towards the left of the panel on a piece of Regular Whisper White CS that was embossed with the Subtle 3D EF AFTER I stamped the sentiment. I die-cut 3 dot-edge curves from the Curvy Dies from Playing With Patterns 6 x 6 DSP in a Calypso Coral dot pattern, Petal Pink CS, and Basic Black CS. I adhered these to the right side of the Whisper White panel with our Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I die-cut the second largest double-dot frame from Hippo & Friends from Regular Very Vanilla CS and used this to design the rest of the card where I wanted to adhere my leaf die-cuts from Perennial Petals, which were fussy trimmed with my Paper Snips to achieve the exact look I wanted. Never be afraid to alter your die-cuts. That’s the beauty of them. They can still be customized or used outside of their original design. I die-cut the leaves from Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, and Regular Whisper White. I cut the left-facing solid bird from Birds & More Dies using the same DSP that the curve was cut from. I put the frame on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered the leaves down with our liquid adhesive. I colored in one of our Basic Jewel Pearls with a Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend and adhered this where the eye of the bird might be, then adhered the bird with liquid adhesive to the frame.

The color palette is endless with this design and I hope you give it a try. Please join us over at SUOChallenges.com. We would love to see your work!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Have a great day and God bless.

  1. Wow Cindy love the vibrant colours you’ve used against the white really is a very pretty card and having the very vanilla dot frame with the bird on top really makes the whole thing pop. Thanks for sharing with us.
