SUOC #354 | Bring On The Heat!

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge #354 where our theme is to Bring On The Heat! In other words, heat embossing. You can have a lot of fun with this.

I’m using Take to the Sky Suite Collection with clear and white embossing powder. I brought in a few of my favorite retired staples of an edging blade and Give It a Whirl Dies. There are so many basic shapes in this die collection that are essential, such as the stars that I used to embellish my card. I also think I’ll be digging Scalloped Contours out of the retirement box. Be sure to check the Clearance Rack for any of what I consider ‘staple’ supplies.

As always, project specific supplies with basic supplies are below.

I started out with an A2 top-folding Basic Beige card base. I cut another piece of Basic Beige CS and roughed up the edges with a blade. You can do this with Paper Snips, to. I cut a piece of retired Kraft 6 x 6 CS (Crumb Cake would be a good substitute) and stamped the fuselage and cloud images from Adventurous Sky onto the Kraft CS with Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder.

I used a Small Blending Brush with Whisper White ink to brush over the clouds with a little bit of Boho Blue, which has become a favorite color of mine, to highlight the clouds. The edging blade was used to rough up the edges of this panel that was then adhered to the Basic Beige CS with Seal. I used a Bone Folder to curl up the corners and edges of both panels. A piece of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine was wrapped x2 at the bottom of the adhered panels, which was then adhered to the card base with Tear & Tape.

I cut the stars out of Pecan Pie CS and the stars from Give It A Whirl Dies.

Next, I stamped the large airplane from Adventurous Sky onto Basic White Thick CS and colored in the fuselage with a Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Marker with the wheels and propeller using a Light Boho Blue Stampin’ Blends Marker. The image was cut from its coordinating Adventurous Sky Die-Cut.

Next I stamped the sentiment onto Mossy Meadow CS that was heat embossed with white powder and cut from its coordinating banner. I punched a small hole at the top of the banner and tied looped Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine through. The sentiment was adhered with Tear & Tape.

For final assembly, the airplane was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the stars adhered with liquid adhesive.

The raised texture of the heat embossing provided plenty of texture and dimension on its own without the need to embellish.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
