The Papercrafting Magazine | Color Blocking

Hello there! Thank you for joining me today for a Color Blocking Technique for The Papercrafting Magazine.

I’m using the beautiful Gorgeously Made Bundle with Bubble Bath, Petal Pink, Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party, and Fresh Freesia.

I achieved the perfect square by using Masking Tape atop of my image panel.

This is a fantastic way to showcase ink blending while keeping your project clean and simple. This card is loaded with dimension by stacking the floral die-cuts and using water droplets to mottle my ink blending. Not only that, the design and colors can be used year-round for any season + other options for your focal image, that I will share with you in a video on 08 August 2023.

I used this same technique for a card I created yesterday that features the Floating Frame Technique.

As always, your shopping Supplies and Instructions, including measurements, are below.

I started out with my A2 top-folding card base in Basic White Thick CS and then cut my image panel to size from Basic White Regular CS.

Next, I used 1″ Masking Tape around the entire parameter of the image panel for my square.

I used Small Blending Brushes starting at the bottom of the panel with Fresh Freesia ink to apply color to the masked off area, followed by Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam, Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, and Bubble Bath inks.

I ran my fingers under the kitchen faucet and shook them off over the inked panel and used a paper towel to remove the excess, which lifts the color off that leaves you with a cool mottled|distress effect.

I die-cut my sprig from Gorgeously Made Dies x3 from Basic White CS and stacked them with liquid adhesive for even more dimension.

The sentiment from Gorgeously Made was stamped onto Basic Black CS with Versamark then heat embossed with white powder.

For final assembly, I removed the masking tape from the image panel that was then was adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Basic White CS spring was adhered with liquid adhesive.

The sentiment was adhered with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Iridescent Pearls were used to embellish.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!
