Hello there! Thank you for joining me today with a focus on filling up the what can be a very stark white space with ‘sleeper images’ from stamps sets and stamping off, which opens the door even more color possibilities with our inks. For clean and simple cards, stark white is great. I just didn’t want it for this project.
‘Sleeper images’ are the little images in any given stamp set that you kinda wonder what it’s doing there. It’s amazing what these images can be used for. For instance, in this card, I used the little trio cross image in Biggest Wish to embellish the white space in this project that was stamped off 3x with Mint Macaron ink. I did the same with the seed packet image in Flowering Rain Boots in Blushing Bride ink.
Stamping off is such a subtle striking way of minimizing the white space while still drawing your eye to the focus. I did my stamping and die-cutting before I adhered the cuts to the image panel, that just wasn’t working for me. Instead of adding the usual bling, I used stamps and ink, which really gives this card a whole new vibe.
I used fresh Spring colors that worked perfectly together, changed my usual fold, enhanced my tulip images, then corner-rounded the right edge of the card base and image panel.
As always, your shopping Supplies and Instructions, including measurements, are below.
I started out with a side-folding A2 card base in Blushing Bride and cut a piece of Basic White Regular for the image panel. I adhered a Pale Papaya gingham from Pansy Petals DSP to the left on the image panel. I then wrapped our Linen Thread x2 around the image panel where the DSP and CS meets and adhered to the back of the image with Scotch Tape. I cut 2 more lengths of Linen Thread and made a cheater’s bow at the top left of the image panel.
I put the image panel into my Stamparatus and stamped the sentiment from Biggest Wish with Smoky Slate ink.
The watering can was stamped in Balmy Blue, the leaves and stems in Mint Macaron, and the tulips in Pale Papaya ink with Poppy Parade sponged onto the edges. All of the images were cut with their coordinating dies.
I then arranged the stamped die-cuts on the image panel and it just looked so bare. That’s when I decided to use the ‘sleeper images’ rather than embellish the card with the our usual go-to. I practiced stamping the images off on our Grid Paper to achieve my desired color and then went around the image panel stamping the seed packet from Flowering Rain Boots in Blushing Bride and the small cross image from Biggest Wish in Mint Macaron.
The die-cut images were adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals as was the image panel. I’m very pleased with how this turned out and hope that you are, too!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project and please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a great day.
